HISTORY

Mozarabs were the first to enjoy theses healthy waters and they named this privileged oasis “Al Lanchar”, “Lancharon” (the fields of healthy sources).

First established as thermal baths around 250 years ago, the history of Lanjarón really starts in the 18th century: in 1760 these waters were recognized for their exceptional medicinal properties from the scientists.

In the 19th century, the waters have acquired a national and international recognition with the Universal Exposition of Paris in 1878 and of Barcelona in 1888.

At the beginning of the 20th century, Lanjarón became internationally known, attracting royalty and such famous figures of the times as Virginia Wolf, Betrand Russell, Manuel de Falla and Federico García Lorca.

In 1928 the emblematic building for the streams was built.

In 2012, Balneario de Lanjarón 4-star hotel with its organic restaurant were launched to provide a complete quality service for wellness and relaxation, and maximum comfort for its customers.
